Titles for Sky Sports' coverage of the 2022 Carabao Cup; Where I was responsible for the generative modelling of an architectural superstructure representing the prestigious cup. The titles slowly reveal this cup, embellished with a variety of light fixtures and functional elements.
Using a CAD scan of the original Carabao Cup, an exoskeleton using millions of procedurally generated and instanced pieces of steel framing was created, realistically pieced together as though the cup were the Orbit Tower in Stratford itself.
Developed in a week, a variety of machine-learning techniques were used to extract key 3D features from the cup's scan, such as text, decorative patterns and adornment. Within these elements are reactive pieces that can be used to animate these patterns and features, as well as generate real-life structural requirements such as ladders, viewing platforms, a lower-level concert stage for performances, and safety beacons.
